Early voting starts today

Friends,
1. Early voting for local elections starts today. Election Day is Saturday, May 11.

These elections include city council members, school board members, and Collin College trustees, depending on where you live in the county.

These races are showing signs that folks realize that these non-partisan races (not Republican/Democrat) are vitally important to you, the taxpayer, because the people you elect have a governing philosophy and WILL act on their individual governing philosophy. It’s to your benefit to elect those who share your governing philosophy and will spend your tax dollars carefully.

Your school board tax rate is six or seven times the county rate. That is a tremendous amount of money across the county. Your tax dollars.

I encourage you to research your city’s elections, and get out to vote.

Candidates in these elections may not be identified as Republican or Democrat, but I assure you that both could be on your ballot. In some cases, our new citizen vetting organizations have made that information available to you.

If you have selected candidates, I encourage you to let your friends know for whom to vote. People who share your values will appreciate your input, and you will influence votes for your candidates. I am always amazed at how many friends you can touch through email, Facebook, and other media.

For instance, I have endorsed Fred Moses for Mayor of Plano. I really didn’t know everything that Fred has done over the years in Plano. Civic? He’s done it. Charitable? He’s done it. Political? He’s done it. A man of character, Fred has touched literally thousands and thousands of lives during his decades in Plano.

Get out to vote, and get your friends out to vote. It’s your government, have a voice in it.

2. May 1 is Wednesday. We historically have only one month to either fill Lake Lavon or face a long, dry summer. Today we are almost eight feet low, and have added only two feet since the first of the year. Eight feet is a lot of water. I ask that you pray for rain. Seriously, pray for rain. Ask God to be gracious to us. Pray for rain.

Sincerely,
Keith
